Clinical Analysis of Traumatic Subdural Hygroma

Abstract
The authors review 26 cases of traumatic subdural hygroma, most of them had CT scanning. There was marked diversity in the severity of injury and in chronicity. The site of the lesions was consistently in frontal region and bilaterally in 62%. Most of cases that had serial CT tended to resolve spontaneously and some of them had CT findings suggestive of brain atrophy on follow-up study.
The outcome seemed to be related with the severity of brain injury rather than the method of treatment: surgical or non-surgical therapy.
The improvement following operation was noted in the cases that had deteriorated or had the CT findings suggestive of mass effect.
